Post: SGIA 2013 Sustainability Recognition Award

Each year the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (“SGIA”) recognizes businesses in the specialty imaging industry that have implemented sustainable business practices. These businesses set themselves apart by reducing their environmental footprint and overhead costs.

Gillespie Graphics is pleased to be one of 20 recipients of the SGIA 2013 Sustainability Recognition Award. We are honored to be acknowledged for our dedication to sustainability.

This Sustainability Recognition Award is a milestone for us on the path toward certification under the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership, and is also confirmation of the progress we’ve made since the formation of our Sustainability Committee.

The results from some of our Sustainability Committee’s recent initiatives include:

• Reduction of overall water usage by 57% over three years;
• Recycling of over 35 tons of plastic, metal and electronic items in 2012;
• Reduction of gas consumption by 30% from 2008 and 2012; and
• Reduction of electricity consumption by 20% from 2008 to 2012, which includes upgrades to more energy-efficient equipment and lighting.

Gillespie Graphics will continue to apply these sustainable practices to all aspects of our operations, from recycling and reducing waste, to encouraging the use of environmentally-friendly printing substrates, to community involvement and emphasizing the importance to our employees.
