 Gillespie Graphics has been an instrumental volunteer for the Canal Street Initiative by
working with other SGIA (Specialty Graphics Industry Association) members in donating
time, materials and equipment.
Canal Street, one of the most heavily traveled areas in New Orleans, connects the
Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and Historic French Quarter. Since August, the
SGIA Canal Street Initiative has produced and installed more than 80 digitally printed panels.
While the city rebuilds after wind damages from Katrina, there are still storefront facades
that are covered with plywood. To improve the urban aesthetics, Gillespie and other SGIA
volunteers adopted Canal Street and will
cover (or replace) boarded-up areas with colorful
graphics illustrating the essence of New Orleans: its food, music, architecture and culture.
